When a candidate has attained their Thesis Review Milestone, the Graduate School will initiate the HDR Thesis Examinations (HTE) Process in UniTask.

This process is where:

  • Principal Advisors nominate examiners and the Chair of Examiners
  • The PGC reviews and endorses the Chair of Examiners
  • The candidate uploads a copy of their abstract to be sent to examiners
  • The examiners and Chair are invited to examine the thesis
  • The examiners provide their summary and report on the written thesis component
  • The Chair of Examiners organises the oral examination and provides the oral examination outcome

The first task in the HTE process is for the Principal Advisor to nominate examiners and a Chair of Examiners. Guidelines on nominating examiners and Chairs can be found here.

When the HTE process is initiated for one of your candidates, you will receive a notification of the task via email with a direct link to access it via your my.UQ dashboard.

Within this task you will be able to:

  • Nominate a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 examiners
  • Nominate a Chair of Examiners
  • Indicate whether your candidate requires a confidential examination
  • Indicate whether your candidate requires an oral examination (guidelines on which candidates are required to undertake an oral examination can be found here)
  • Disclose any perceived or actual conflicts of interest with examiners
