Suggested Content
This section of the course profile includes:
- content which will appear on all profiles within a Unit, and
- settings which will affect all profiles within a Unit.
Content and settings on this page can be edited by Unit Administrators or the System Administrator. Some of the settings can be overridden at the profile level on a profile's Status & Settings page.
Unit Session Content
Content in this section can be edited by Unit Administrators and the System Administrator.
Course Timetable Link Text: The content of this field will display as the link text in section 1.4 instead of "mySI-net". If no content is entered here, the default text which will appear on all course profiles within this Unit Session will be "mySI-net".
Course Timetable URL: This field requires a URL (internet address). The content of this field will display as the link in section 1.4 instead of the link to mySI-net. If no content is entered here, the default link which will appear on all course profiles within this Unit Session will be to mySI-net.
Unit Additional Timetable Information: The content of this field will display as additional timetable information in section 1.4 of all course profiles within this Unit Session.
Additional Unit Level Information on Graduate Attributes: The content of this field will display as additional Unit Level Information on Graduate Attributes in section 2.3 of all course profiles within this Unit Session.
Unit Level Learning Resources Text: The content of this field will display as additional Unit Level Learning Resources in section 3.4 of all course profiles within this Unit Session.
Unit Level Late Submission Text: The content of this field will display as Unit Level Late Submission details in section 5.3 of all course profiles within this Unit Session.
Unit Level Assessment Submission Text: The content of this field will display as Unit Level Assessment Submission details in section 5.1 (when adding/editing an assessment item) of all course profiles within this Unit Session.
Unit Level Assessment Guidelines: The content of this field will display as additional Unit Level Assessment Guidelines in section 6.1 of all course profiles within this Unit Session.
Unit Level Other Guidelines: The content of this field will display as additional Unit Level Other Guidelines in section 6.2 of all course profiles within this Unit Session.
Special Override Rules Table
Settings in this section can be edited by Unit Administrators and the System Administrator. Where a Unit-level setting is specified, it will override the University-level setting.
Late Submission Override Rule: Sets the Unit policy on Late Submission in section 5.3. Select from:
- Unit Guide only (all profiles in this Unit Session will display Late Submission details as specified in the Unit Level Late Submission Text field above),
- Profile Guide only (all profiles in this Unit Session must display Late Submission details as specified by the profile Designer/s), and
- Unit Guide when no Profile Guide is available (profile Designers can opt to display the Unit Guide details or those specified by the profile Designer/s)
Unit Guide when no Profile Guide is available is the default option.
Submission Override Rule: Sets the Unit policy on Submission of individual assessment items in section 5.1 (and section 5.5 in the Student View). Select from:
- Unit Guide only (all profiles in this Unit Session will display Assessment Submission details as specified in the Unit Level Assessment Submission Text field above),
- Profile Guide only (all profiles in this Unit Session must display Assessment Submission details as specified by the profile Designer/s), and
- Unit Guide when no Profile Guide is available (profile Designers can opt to display the Unit Guide details or those specified by the profile Designer/s)
Unit Guide when no Profile Guide is available is the default option.
"Criteria and Marking" File Suppression Rule: Sets the Unit policy on the public display of Assessment Criteria and Marking course files for individual assessment items in section 5.1 (and section 5.5 in the Student View). Select from:
- Always supressed (all profiles in this Unit Session will hide Assessment Criteria and Marking course files from public display),
- Never supressed (all profiles in this Unit Session will always display Assessment Criteria and Marking course files to the public), and
- Designer's choice (profile Designers can opt to display Assessment Criteria and Marking course files publicly)
Designer's choice is the default option, although course files are still hidden from public display by default when uploaded.
"More information" File Suppression Rule: Sets the Unit policy on the public display of course files linked as "More information" on individual assessment items in section 5.1 (and section 5.5 in the Student View). Select from:
- Always supressed (all profiles in this Unit Session will hide "More information" course files from public display),
- Never supressed (all profiles in this Unit Session will always display "More information" course files to the public), and
- Designer's choice (profile Designers can opt to display "More information" course files publicly)
Designer's choice is the default option, although course files are still hidden from public display by default when uploaded.
Profile Import Controls
The settings in this section determine the dates when profiles are imported from SI-net for this Unit Session. Between the Import Start Date and the Import Finish Date, SI-net data will continue to update this profile on an overnight basis. The Import Enabled Flag must be set to Yes at both the University and the Unit level for this import to take place.
Settings in this section can be edited only by the System Administrator. Where a Unit-level setting is specified, it will override the University-level setting.
Semester Dates
This section controls key dates for display, lockdown and storage of the course profiles offered within this Unit Session.
Settings in this section can be edited only by the System Administrator. Where a Unit-level setting is specified, it will override the University-level setting.
Display Date: Published course profiles will be accessible by enrolled students and the public on and after this date.
Notifiable Date: After this date, students can be sent an e-mail automatically to notify them of changes to critical profile fields (the 'purple' text fields in section 5), details of which are posted on the Student Noticeboard
Critical Lockdown Date: "Purple text" fields in section 5 of published course profiles will not be editable by profile Designers on or after this date.
Total Lockdown Date: Published course profiles will not be editable by profile Designers on or after this date.
Archive Date: Course profiles will be archived on this date and will not be editable at all. However they will still be accessible to public view for historical records. This date is usually set as the last day of the exam period.
Retirement Date: Course profiles will be retired from public view on this date. However they will still be stored in the ECP database for historical records. This date is usually 2 years from the Archive Date.
Removal Date: Course profiles will be removed from the database on this date. This date is usually 15 years from the Archive Date.
Editing Unit Session Content and Settings
- Click the Edit Unit Session Content and Settings button next to the heading "Content & Settings for - [SESSION ID]"
- Add or edit the information for this section using the online editor fields or selecting the available options. Please refer to ECPS Online Editor for general formatting help.
- Click Save.
